This is our third letter from James, but the first with news...
"Meiners family,
Yo soy bien, y me gusto el MTC. Translating...
I've been at the MTC a little more than a week. Me and my companion have already taught the first lesson about five times. We're pretty good at it. I always do the Joseph Smith story.
I wake up the earliest in our room consisting of Elder me, Rogers, Cox and Gardner. Usually at 6 so I can read a little extra, which is still sleeping in compared to Daniel and Julia.
My health is good. Both my knees and my arm is scabbed from wrestling my 220 Pound room-companion Elder Gardner on the carpet. And I feel tired all the time, and usually have a runny nose, but other than that I'm fine.
The weather is cold, and there is always snow on the ground. It's snowing right now. (10:37:20 am)
I got Dad's letter the 17th. He said Kara came. That sounded cool. I'm too tired to care about exercise, but I eat healthy and exercise anyway. The food is the same, their trying to fatten us up. I always request less food.
Went to the temple this morning. That was fun. Then ate a real breakfast there with bacon.
We played battleship at Spanish class, and it was so cool. I had no chance of getting this one guy out but I did anyway, and I got in his head and made him think I was smarter than I was so he'd pick the wrong coordinates.
By the time you get this letter I'll probably be done reading the Book of Mormon, starting from when I got here. Let's see if I'll be done the 22nd.
Hope the family is doing well,
ELDER James Meiners"
